Chief Accountant (Temporary for fixed 3 years)

CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

Maternity cover, Definite employment contract with 2.5+ years of expected time span.

Purpose of the role:

The Chief Accountant will join the local Finance Team of Kia Hungary reporting directly to the Finance Manager. The role has people management responsibilities of two direct reports. Major responsibility of the role is to manage overall accounting activities including daily bookkeeping and monthly/annual closing. The Chief Accountant also oversees all taxation matters and coordinating payment processes, full responsibility for these areas.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

-        Coordinating and partially doing bookkeeping activities

-        Being responsible for the general ledger and related subledgers

-        Leading and active participation in monthly and annual closings under local GAAP

-        Preparing statutory annual financial statements

-        Coordinating the work of the external auditor

-        Managing payment processes with the finance specialist

-        Taking responsibility for banking activities

-        Preparing all tax returns, except for personnel taxes

-        Being a tax consultant within the company: monitoring tax law changes, suggesting tax treatment options in new activities, keeping contact with the tax advisors and tax authority when needed

-        Continuous improvement of the relevant accounting, payment and taxation processes

-        Taking part in the preparation and update of internal finance policies, practices, and guidelines

-        Managing and developing a team of two colleagues: accountant, finance specialist

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Experience

• College or university degree in finance

• Active chartered accountant qualification

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in finance; minimum 3 years’ experience as Chief Accountant or similar role with overall general ledger and tax responsibility

• Solid knowledge of accounting and Hungarian tax rules and pertaining regulations.

• High degree of integrity and ethical compliance

• SAP knowledge is an advantage

• MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook

• Native Hungarian and communication level of English both verbally and in writing
